Lloyds Bank has issued a warning to all customers over a Facebook Marketplace scam, with fraudsters said to be able to create fake listings in a matter of minutes
Lloyds Bank has issued a stark warning to all customers about an increasing number of scams, particularly on platforms such as Facebook Marketplace. The banking giant is alerting account holders to be vigilant against fake listings for items like cars, tickets, and clothing.
Lloyds added: "Whether it's for a sold-out gig or for a great price you can't find elsewhere. It's not a bargain if it never turns up."Highlighting the tactics used by fraudsters, Lloyds stated: "Do you have to pay right away? Fraudsters will often say someone else is interested to pressure you into a quick sale."
They added a crucial tip for safe transactions: "A genuine seller will be happy to meet you in person and let you pay in a way that protects your money." Moreover, they suggested: "Can you meet the seller in person? Use location filters to look for things available for local pick-up. This way, you can check an item before paying."
