She was awarded the Association's Frank Carlino Award this year. It's awarded to someone who demonstrates perseverance and creativity in helping those with Alzheimer's and their families in the state. "We had a women's health initiative and it centered around Alzheimer's and caregivers," said Minter. "It wasn't until I began working on the health initiatives that I realized that this disease was actually a part of my family’s history.""We saw her deteriorate at a rapid state to a point where she really didn’t know any of us," said Minter. "At that period, she passed away in 1972, they did not diagnose the disease as such.
