Monday is Memorial Day, and communities across Rochester hosted parades and remembrance ceremonies, all to remember those who have fallen in the line of duty.
Hundreds of people lined the streets downtown for the city's annual Memorial Day parade, honoring those who have fallen in the line of duty on Monday, May 27th, 2024.
"We are a little disappointed we aren't outside to recognize our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice," said Penfield Town Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts. "Our veterans' roots go back to the Civil War and almost every family is touched in some way through the military or military service." "Memorial Day is to honor those who have given their life on behalf of the country," said Captain Hardy. "It's a day of memory and to appreciate what it takes to have a country such as this."
