A Cumberland County man is still recovering just weeks after a horrific fireworks accident nearly cost him his life.

The father of four, Brian Ginter , sat in an exclusive interview with CBS21 News to discuss that earth-shattering day.

He said nothing happened after he lit the fireworks initially. So, he waited a few short moments, hoping something would happen.“I burnt my corneas. My ear drums were blown. From what my wife says, I was walking around the backyard, but I think what I realized when I tried getting up was that my hand hadn't been there,” said Ginter. He suffered severe burns to the chest, fractured his face and much more.

His wife, Alicia, tells me she wasn’t outside when it went off, but as soon as her kids told her what happened she ran to her husband’s side. “Most people have a hard time being positive, but there’s no other way to get through a traumatic situation without being positive," said Ginter. “The surgeons also explained that my willpower and my attitude will also play a huge role in the kids’ recovery.”
