The Conservatives lost nearly 500 council seats in Thursday's local elections with local leaders pointing to partygate and the cost of living as key factors.
"We are strongest when we are united, we've got a Queen's Speech next week where we will demonstrate to the nation that the second half of this parliament is all about dealing with repairing the economy, recovering from COVID, the backlog of the NHS and national security - here at home, safer streets - and, of course, abroad.
Sir Keir has said there was no party and that he was"confident no rules were broken" during the episode, which has been dubbed"beergate". "He needs to find a way to restore confidence in the government and I think there's a number of ways he might do that," he said. "From the depths in 2019 we are back on track now for the general election, showing what the change that we've done, the hard change that we've done in the last two years, what a difference it has made," he said.
