Watford Borough Council have opened applications for the Neighbourhood Grant funding.
The £300,000 pot available for local initiatives comes from a community infrastructure levy, which developers must pay on new housing projects.
The applications are open from September 25 to December 8 and give community groups and initiatives the chance to apply for up to £5,000 to start a new short-term programme or activity.Watford mayor Peter Taylor: “I was really pleased with the success of the Neighbourhood Grant programme last year. The projects demonstrated the incredible creativity, dedication, and passion within our community.
“From revitalising public spaces, to providing crucial support for vulnerable members of our society, these initiatives showed how we can work together to improve our town. I look forward to seeing the amazing projects that apply this year.” Last year, the grant saw 16 projects receive funding, which helped a wide range of groups, including environmental conservation, youth empowerment and social welfare. We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues.
