The Daily Record has returned with our final Walk of the Week before December 25, and it is fittingly a winter wonderland near a charming pub and restaurant with a festive menu. Many people will be rushing about preparing for the big day, whether with some last-minute shopping or by picking out their turkey. Amidst the chaos, it is important to take some time to slow down and relax. The best way to clear your head is with a good old-fashioned walk in the Scottish countryside.
Therefore, for the Daily Record's final Walk of the Week, we recommend heading to Loch Morlich. If you are looking to head out on a lovely winter hike, then it is hard to top Loch Morlich in the Cairngorms. A large freshwater loch situated at the foot of Cairngorm Mountains, it is a popular spot for water sports and swimming over the summer — but is also definitely worth a visit over the colder months too. The loop around the loch takes in absolutely mesmerising views of the Cairngorm mountains, which look particularly beautiful blanketed in snow. Around 3.75 miles in length, the loop begins at the Loch Morlich car park and should take between 90 minutes and two hours to complete.VisitScotland wrote:'One of the best walks in the Cairngorms, this loop around Loch Morlich offers stunning views of the northern Cairngorm mountains, which look especially majestic dusted with snow.
