There are many changes to supermarkets now that we are back in lockdown
Businesses around the country might be shutting their doors as a result of Level Five – but our supermarkets look busier than ever.
And the country’s biggest grocery stores have wasted no time in responding, with a number of new measures designed to ensure people have a safe shop.Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will auto-play soon8Cancel Play now Aldi The German giant is asking shoppers to limit the number of people they bring into shops with them in order to follow social distancing protocols.
Frontline workers are being given priority when it comes to queueing – both outside the shop and at the checkout – and new signage shows customers how to shop in a socially distanced fashion. Elsewhere, it has asked customers to “be considerate” when it comes to how they go about their shop, with prioritisation given all day to elderly people.
The supermarket expects to use a whopping 13,500 litres of hand sanitiser over the next six weeks, among a number of other steps to ensure public safety.
