Surprised beach walkers have found an endangered loggerhead turtle and its nest on a popular NSW Central Coast beach, which conservationists say could be a sign of climate change impacting the species.

Sea turtles have temperature-dependent sex determination, which means the temperature experienced during the early stages of development inside the egg will determine the sex."Warmer temperatures will produce all females and cooler temperatures will produce all males."
