Angry passengers on the London Underground aided police in apprehending a man suspected of pickpocketing.

Fed-up London commuters aided undercover police officers in apprehending an alleged pickpocket on the London Underground . Footage captured the moment a man was arrested on suspicion of theft as incensed Londoners shouted on the Northern Line platform at Leicester Square station. A plain-clothed police officer can be seen pushing the suspect against a wall. An agitated woman in a white coat exclaimed, 'I want to punch you. No one cares.

' She is heard telling the man to 'f*** off' while restraining him as he is taken into custody. Her fury was so intense that an officer had to warn her to step back or face arrest for common assault. In the video's conclusion, the suspect is led away to a police van. British Transport Police confirmed the incident, stating that officers responded to reports of a theft and subsequent arrest by an off-duty Hertfordshire Constabulary officer at Leicester Square station around 7:20 PM on December 31st. Upon arrival, officers detained a man and subsequently arrested him on suspicion of three additional theft counts. He was released on bail pending further investigations. Between March 2023 and 2024, the Metropolitan Police received over 79,000 reports of pickpocketing. Westminster saw 28,155 reports, with one in seven individuals in the area experiencing theft, primarily of mobile phones. This signifies a 712% surge from three years prior, making it the capital's highest theft rate
