London's first-ever set of Ramadan lights has been switched on at Piccadilly Circus to mark the start of the religious festival.
Piccadilly Circus was illuminated with 30,000 sustainable lights that read ‘Happy Ramadan’ and feature glittering moons and stars.Ramadan Lights UK is the non-profit organisation behind the exhibit, which was funded from public donations.‘As a child, a trip into central London to see the festive lights was an annual treat,’ she said.
‘My sister and I would lie in the back of the car looking at the lights through the sunroof. It was magical.
