. City leaders just announced TC Broadnax from Dallas as their pick to be Austin's next permanent city manager.over his handling of the city's response to a freak winter storm.
Here in Austin, he sailed through a public forum on Monday where spoke of his successes in reducing homelessness in Dallas. They use what he called "an encampment to housing strategy" which has consistently beat the goals Dallas has set for itself. At the forum, Broadnax's views on local policing seem to dovetail with what the majority of Austin voters have in mind. He spoke of the importance of the city manager being able to work closely with Austin's chief of police on police oversight.
