The two-hour recording of a 1964 interview with the Beatles has never been released
A two-hour recording of a 'long-lost' interview given by The Beatles for a feature in Playboy magazine is set to be auctioned. The interview, carried out by American journalist and radio host Jean Shepherd, took place in October 1964 after a concert at the Exeter ABC.
The tapes will be auctioned by Merseyside-based Omega Auctions in a ‘Beatles Collection’ auction on October 15, with a starting price of £10,000. Omega said that while the interview provided the basis of a feature that appeared in Playboy in February 1965, the full tapes had never been published. A Beatles poster from New Brighton , 1962 is also up for auction. It is also estimated to sell for over £10,000. October marks the 60th anniversary of the 'groundbreaking' interview.
