The deaths of two King Cove residents in an Anchorage house fire earlier this year have been declared homicides and is now an active arson case, officials say.
Around 2 a.m. on Feb. 1, Amy Carlough, the niece of Jim and Kathy Gould, received a phone call from her sister-in-law saying their Tudor Area house was on fire. It was a duplex house, where Carlough’s sister-in-law and her children lived on one side, and the Goulds lived on the other side.
“At this point in the stage of things, we’re just trying to keep this property safe and contained,” Carlough said. “We did some work, along with APD boarding it up. We’ve had several people try to break in, since the circumstance did happen in the arson fire.”
