It was like a fever dream.
Lorraine Kelly has left viewers absolutely stunned after a series of wild tasks set by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, leaving some concerned she was even going to get arrested. The daytime presenter, 64, proved to be the actress she says she is as she undertook a series of secret missions in public, all the while pretending it was just an average day.
And if we’re perfectly honest, it felt like something out of a fever dream. The ITV host admitted she ‘couldn’t believe what I got away with,’ before revealing exactly what those antics included. During a Saturday Night Takeaway segment, I’m A Celebrity… Get Out of My Ear, Britain’s Got Talent duo Ant and Dec sent Lorraine out for a day of shopping – which included eating cereal in the middle of a shoe shop, drinking champagne from a high heel, and even almost shoplifting. It started off simple, just having casual conversations with passers-by, who of course recognised her, as she attempted to guess their names and pretend she’d already met them in bizarre conversations. Lorraine Kelly has had viewers in hysterics It all started with a suitcase… Things started going very, very wrong And Lorraine ended up on the floor But things began to turn more chaotic when Lorraine ended up on the floor after she had a little too much fun riding a suitcase – leading to a telling off from a member of staff. As she moved onto the next shop, Ant and Dec then began introducing some props, including a bag of Cheerios and a bowl, for Lorraine to have some breakfast while she sat in the middle of a shoe shop. ‘So hungry,’ she told the bewildered strangers around her, before then tipping out her entire bowl on the floor. In an attempt to wash down her cereal, she was then challenged to drink champagne out of a shoe, but somehow managed to convince a passer-by to join her. Lorraine ended up eating cereal in a shoe shop She even did a shoey! Somehow, Lorraine managed to convince innocent shoppers This lady will have a fun story to tell And it didn’t stop there. Lorraine helped herself to the clothes right off a mannequin’s back, and even had staff members quite concerned when she began shoplifting… only to fling all the clothes in her bag off the escalator and declare: ‘Hey everybody, I’ve changed my mind, can you put these back for me? Alright, see you on the telly!’ Reflecting on the bizarre day on Saturday’s programme, Lorraine told Ant and Dec: ‘It was scary though, because everybody was so nice! I was expecting somebody at one point to say “behave yourself, stop it”.’ We’re not quite sure what’s going on here… There were even bagpipes involved ‘I could never come back to this shop again!’ she laughed. Viewers were in hysterics watching her escapades unfold, with X user Teena writing: ‘Gotta say, Lorraine Kelly was brilliant, had me crying with laughter…’ ‘Alright Lorraine, that was pretty iconic,’ Dan said.
