Mine subtly hinted to Paul about the 'announcement,' but he seemed completely oblivious.
Frustration grew, and a heated argument ensued over who should speak. Mine insisted, 'You told me I wasn't allowed to say anything,' trying to encourage Paul to reveal their tour plans, but he remained clueless. Amidst the confusion, Paul even praised his wife for receiving an MBE on King Charles' New Year's Honours list, acknowledging her work in early childhood education and neuroscience's role in understanding brain development. However, Mine quickly corrected him, stating, 'But it's not my MBE.' Lorraine, trying to smooth things over, responded with a smile, 'It is your MBE,' Paul eventually acknowledged the honor, saying, 'No, but thank you, I am very proud.' Finally, after a series of prompts and whispers, Paul blurted out, 'Oh blimey yeah, we're doing a couple of live shows.' Earlier in the interview, Lorraine mentioned Paul's involvement in the BBC Two series 'Gone Fishing,' which he co-hosts with his good friend Bob Mortimer. Paul explained that their partnership extends beyond fishing, serving as an opportunity for old friends to bond over a shared hobby while also addressing Bob's health issues and raising awareness about his condition. The idea for 'Gone Fishing' originated in 2015 as a way for Paul to support Bob's recovery from triple bypass surgery, which revealed that a shocking 95 percent of Bob's arteries were blocked. Bob has faced numerous health challenges, including a six-month bout with shingles that resulted in muscle loss and often confined him to a wheelchair. In an uplifting statement to the Mirror, Bob expressed his gratitude towards Paul for his unwavering support during these difficult times, saying, 'I wasn't very well, and it made it a bit of a struggle, but, as always, Paul looked after me and pulled me through.' Bob elaborated on the filming difficulties, stating, 'For half of the season, I couldn't walk, so it was very challenging at times. When we were in Trent, I was being taken from a wheelchair to the top of the bank. You never see that, but you never see me on my feet either.'
