Drivers face a 53-mile diversion away from the main route between Glasgow and Ayrshire to the ferry port to Belfast at Cairnryan, after the blaze on Tuesday night.
A major road in Ayrshire has been closed after a lorry burst into flames. Emergency services raced to the scene on the A77 at Glenapp Church near Girvan after the alarm was raised at around 8pm on Tuesday.
Drivers face a 53-mile diversion which remains in place via the A75 and A714. A picture taken from the scene on Tuesday evening showed the vehicle engulfed in flames. Traffic Scotland said: "The A77 at Glenapp Church remains closed in both directions due to an earlier vehicle fire. Diversions remain in place via A75 and A714. Traffic is coping well around the diversion."
