THE lost grave of a Scots soldier who died during the First World War has been discovered and rededicated after more than 100 years.

2nd Lieutenant Reginald Russell Boyd, 20, from Bishopton, Renfrewshire, was killed while fighting on the Western Front.He was shot in the head on April 19 1917.He survived the initial gunshot but died in hospital on May 4 1917.

Researchers also found the grave of Private Frederick Little, of Carlisle, Cumbria, who was also killed on the Western Front. The rededication services were conducted by Reverend Tim-Clarke Wood CF, chaplain to the 4th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland and attended by soldiers of the battalion.“The reminder that so many of our troops who died during the First World War were very young.“That so often what is accomplished is bought with the lives of those who will never have the opportunity to fulfil all that they could otherwise.
