A woman who showed cold and flu symptoms died within weeks - after she developed sepsis and Strep A
A woman who claims she is entitled to a £1million National Lottery prize has lost the latest stage of her High Court battle with operator Camelot. Joan Parker-Grennan is convinced she is owed the winnings after she bought an Instant Win Game ticket in August 2015, but Camelot disputes her claim and says it is only liable to pay out £10.
During a recent High Court hearing in London, lawyers told the judge, Mr Justice Jay, how Mrs Parker-Grennan, from Boston, Lincolnshire, had bought an Instant Win Game ticket online for £5 on August 25, 2015. They explained that the premise of the game was that if a number in the 'your numbers' section of the screen matched one of the winning numbers, the two matching numbers would turn white, indicating that the player had won the prize “designated by those matching numbers”.
Mrs Parker-Grennan, who was not at the High Court hearing, argued there should be a summary judgement in her favour because Camelot could not win. But lawyers representing Camelot said her summary judgement application should be dismissed, saying there was a “real prospect” of Camelot winning at a trial.
