News of an independent environment agency is expected soon
A report and plan on the issue was published recently, with Minister Andrew Muir outlining how he hopes to tackle the problem through a range of measures including a review of pollution fines, education, targeted agricultural schemes to reduce slurry and fertiliser run off which plays a large part in the problem and potential grants to upgrade septic tanks.
