Richard E Grant shared an emotional video on what would have been his 35th wedding anniversary with late wife Joan Washington.died on September 2 at the age of 71,Richard, 64, married Joan on November 1 1986, and in a heartbreaking video, the Withnail & I star said that he was focusing on the fact that ‘love goes on’ as he struggles with the loss of his face.
He captioned the video: ‘I married Joan Washington 35 years ago today. Best decision I’ve ever made. We were together for 38 years and @OliviaGranted is the Gift of a Human that we are blessed with.’ ‘Olivia and I are profoundly grateful for everything that you’ve gifted us with, and we’re relieved that you no longer have to struggle for breath.‘Our loss is incalculable. Your love is immeasurable. The depth of our grief is mirrored by the magnitude of our love. Goodbye Monkee-mine. Do not forget us.’
They got married in 1986 and Richard said that he never considered marriage until he met Joan, believing it to be ‘unnecessary’.‘My parents were divorced when I was 11 and it made such a profound impression on my life that I suppose I thought that by not getting married, you could avoid your life being carved in two. But that changed.
