Love Island : Aftersun fans were left gobsmacked as Maya Jama 's stunning mum made a surprise appearance in the audience.
Maya was back on presenting duty on Sunday as she presented the live spin-off show and she kicked off the latest episode by telling viewers that her mum, Sadie, was in the studio. The camera then panned over to show Sadie proudly smiling, which sent fans wild. Bristol-born Maya was born when Sadie, who boasts Swedish roots, was 18, while Maya's dad Hussein is of Somali heritage.
In an interview with the Evening Standard, Maya opened up about how the relatively small age difference between her and her mum has fostered a unique closeness, saying: "She had me at 18, so our relationship was a bit different. I rebelled less because I was quite free." Describing their love story, she wrote: "We fell madly in love in 2014, broke up in 2019, and then spent five years manoeuvring life apart."
