EXCLUSIVE: Love Island's Sammy Root has opened up on his life since winning the show with his now ex-girlfriend Jess Harding, including their breakup, which he described as a 'shock'
Love Island winner Sammy Root has opened up on his relationship with ex-girlfriend Jess Harding, as he described the public interest as 'mad'.
Eventually they did, with Sammy even asking Jess to officially be his girlfriend before they went on to win the show - looking shocked as they did so. He continues pragmatically: "I can't change it . I'd rather just move on and wish all the best for Jess, and make the most of what I can for myself." Speaking of his win with Jess, a humble Sammy admitted that he never expected to reach the ultimate prize - which saw £50,000 split between the pair.
Sammy shared that he believes he and Jess won the public vote because they were the 'most relatable' couple in the villa, telling us: "I think me and Jess were your standard kind of people, very down to earth and very real." Despite getting to enjoy plenty of the hottest celebrity events, Sammy is keen on using his fame to do good and shining a spotlight on good causes, such as Dogs Trust.
