EXCLUSIVE: Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan are undoubtedly one of Love Island's greatest success stories, and a year on from winning the show, they're looking toward the future
Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan made history when they became the first non-white couple to win Love Island in March 2023. And just over a year on, the pair are more loved-up than ever, with a future that looks set to include marriage and babies.
Now, in an exclusive chat and photo shoot with OK!, Kai and Sanam talk about their secret to a successful relationship, their biggest arguments and their plans for the future – including buying a house together…Kai: Really nice.
Sanam: We make time for each other, we have a good balance and prioritise our relationship over the other stuff that comes our way.Sanam: I was completely myself. There were a few scenarios in the villa where people have said, “I love the way she handled that,” and that’s because I wasn’t being fake.
Sanam: I’ve had amazing messages from fans, saying, “I can’t believe it. Somebody that looks like me won Love Island.” I think that’s amazing. It’s nice to be representing a different demographic, and it shows that we should consider everyone.Sanam: It’s going well. We are looking for another place as we currently live in a flat, but want to move into a house. Kai has too many clothes – he needs his own room!Kai: I never thought about it, it felt right.
Sanam: We are both of the mindset that we actually want our relationship to work, so whatever the issue is, let’s talk about it. We never want to offend or hurt one another, but we want to work and progress.Kai: If we put an expiration date on our relationship – which we’re not – then what’s the point? If we weren’t working towards an engagement, marriage and kids, not necessarily in that order, then we wouldn’t be in the right relationship.
