Anthony Stevenson's parents were shocked to learn of their son's mental health records at an inquest into his death
The parents of a Lancaster man who took his own life have voiced their concerns that they weren't involved in his medical care prior to his death.
"I was so angry because I wanted to help," Anthony's mum said. "We wanted to help him and perhaps we could have helped him but it was just 'go away, it's nothing to do with you' when we asked them about him." Returning a conclusion of suicide the coroner said: "Anthony was a 39-year-old man who did have depression and a psychotic disorder. It would appear that a lack of sleep was found to be a significant precipitant for his psychotic episodes.
"By May Anthony said he felt well. He reported his mood to be good and gave this as a rating of eight or nine out of 10. I am reassured by Clair Attard that lessons have been learned as a result of this very sad case but I do not find that the care provided to Anthony was causative or contributed to his death."Here are some groups you can contact:Childline: Phone 0800 1111.
