A 'loving' woman collapsed suddenly and died two days after taking cocaine on a night out, an inquest has found. Lindsey Jayne Strickland, 41, took ill after taking the drug with friends on the night of January 26 and into the early hours of January 27 this year. The court heard she had been vomiting, and at around 1am on January 29 was seen getting a glass of water before suddenly dropping the glass and collapsing at her Little Hulton home.

Emergency services were called, but she sadly died in hospital. A pathologist said 'on the balance of probabilities' it was the cocaine toxicity in her system that most likely caused her death. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, her stepfather Robert Sixsmith described her as a 'loving' woman and her death as a 'tragedy'. A hearing at Bolton Coroners Court last Tuesday (December 10) was told Ms Strickland had gone out 'socialising' with friends at a pub on the evening of Friday, January 26, before they returned home and took cocaine. Giving evidence, Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant recounted a statement given by one friend and neighbour who had been with Ms Strickland but had returned home in the early hours of Saturday morning. In her statement, she said Ms Strickland continued to call her until around 6am, where she said she was feeling 'a bit rough' and going to bed. The court heard Ms Strickland was bedbound and vomiting for much of the weekend, but appeared to 'make progress' on Sunday evening. She was seen getting out of bed at around 1am and getting a glass of water before suddenly dropping the glass, which shattered, and collapsing on the floor. The inquest heard Ms Strickland cut her chin during the fall, which caused a large amount of bleeding. An ambulance was called, and paramedics attended shortly after 2am.
