Families can receive the cash grant to spend on essentials if they aren't on benefits and make less than £28,000

Families can now apply for payments of £200 to help pay for food and bills. This comes as part of the Department for Work and Pensions’ Household Support Fund – a government scheme that offers support to those struggling with the cost of living crisis.Some councils offer cash grants or supermarket vouchers, others provide energy-saving appliances or free school meals – it depends on where you live.

For food, bills and essentials East Riding Council is offering the £200 payments to households struggling to pay for food, energy bills, water bills and other essentials. Alternatively, you can apply as an unpaid carer if you are a resident of East Riding. The following must be true:You do not need to apply if you already received a payment from the HSF between April 2023 and March 2024.
