THE low pressure area (LPA) off extreme Northern Luzon has escalated into a tropical depression to be called 'Ineng,' the ninth storm to enter the country this year and the first this month, the state-run weather agency said on Tuesday.
Weather specialist Grace Castaneda said Ineng is moving north-ward slowly while packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55kph.It was estimated some 925 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in a 5 a.m. advisory said.The Pagasa forecaster said the tropical depression will likely remain far from the Philippine landmass throughout its forecast period.
'Tropical Depression Ineng is not directly affecting the country, although it is slightly enhancing the southwest monsoon alongside Tropical Storm 'Haikui' which enhances it more.Habagat will bring occasional monsoon rains, especially over the western portions of Luzon in the next three days, the state weather bureau said.It said that Ineng is less likely to bring rough sea conditions over any seaboard of the country through the forecast period.
