There's a unique little takeaway in Southport like nothing I've seen before. For more than a year, the Lucky Star Chinese takeaway has occupied my mind, nagging me to make the drive and pick up what would no doubt be a memorable feast.
The reason it has taken so long for me to visit Lucky Star is proximity. I live miles away from Southport and there are countless takeaways closer to home than the Lucky Star. If I was to try to grab a bite, I'd be making a specific journey to do so. There was no point in calling to order for a takeaway - this journey was all about getting to step inside the house and discover what hid behind the white PVC door. For all I knew, there could be sofas, cabinets and a television surrounding an industrial kitchen.
Lucky Star appears to be set inside a normal home that has undergone a partial refurbishment to create a takeaway. From the very small glimpse I was allowed from my side of the counter, which I assume was once part of a living room, there's no way of telling just how far the renovations have gone in turning this residential property into a business.
