The winger has arrived at Celtic but has had national team drama to deal with recently.
Luis Palma has been wished the best of luck at Celtic and on the national team front from the former manager of Honduras – in a blunt and evasive fashion.
The winger has joined Brendan Rodgers' side on a long-term deal from Greek side Aris, and had won his place back in the national team set-up for matches against Jamaica and Grenada this month, losing against the former 1-0. It came after a summer of rumours and controversy around boss Diego Vazquez deciding to exclude him from the host summer Gold Cup squad, despite a strong first season in Greece.
Honduras didn't make it out the group and Vazquez didn't make it to the end of the summer in the hotseat, and now he answered accusations of friction with certain players, a bizarre fight with a journalist and Palma's omission. He responded to LaPrensa: "Both things are false, they did not exist, they are inventions. All the footballers came when they were called, they were in the process.
"If we did not call some it was by technical decision because at some point we had to educate. I did not have a fight with any journalist." But when the question landed on whether Palma was excluded on a technical basis or an act of indiscipline, the answer was evasive in its delivery. Vasquez bluntly replied: "That is a closed topic, I wish him and the entire national team the best."
