Former Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales has been banned from going within 200m of Jenni Hermoso as the country's World Cup-winning squad announced they will boycott next week's Nations League fixtures. An investigating judge at Spain's High Court has imposed the restraining order after Rubiales appeared in court to be investigated for sexual assault for kissing Hermoso on the lips.
The incident, which occurred at the medal ceremony after Spain's women's team won the World Cup in Australia last month, has triggered a furore over sexism in Spanish sport and society and prompted protests similar to the"Me Too" movement. On Friday afternoon, Spain's women's national team players released a statement saying they would continue their boycott.
