Luke Littler is leading Michael van Gerwen in the final set of the World Darts Championship. Littler is looking to win his first World Championship title since 2019 after a disappointing runner-up finish last year.

LUKE LITTLER is thrashing Michael van Gerwen in the World Darts Championship final on RIGHT NOW - and he is closing in on the trophy! Littler was runner-up in his first tilt at the Worlds last year, but is now looking to go one better. van Gerwen is aiming to win his first World Championship since 2019, having lost half of his six finals at Ally Pally . We'll soon see. But Michael van Gerwen does have the throw in this set. He knows he just needs one more set, Littler.

Van Gerwen leads on the Littler throw for much of the leg and when leaving 92, gives himself a really realistic chance of claiming the leg. Littler misses a treble with his first dart at T8, so has to move to 16 and finds double 20 with his third and final dart. Van Gerwen could only hit 44 when back on 128 and Littler was left on 50. Going for bull would've been cheeky, so he goes 10, D20 and goes two up in this set! Three big visits to start the leg but MVG just about sticks with him. Van Gerwen can't get close to a decent finish so Littler's allowed a chance to finish and does so easily. Van Gerwen opens the leg with an 180 and it looked for the first few visits that he was cantering to victory in the set. Littler's 180 late in the day put a bit of pressure on but with MVG leaving 40 after excellent set-up play, it was too little too late. Littler scoots miles clear this time and leaves 46 when MVG can't finish his 139. Littler leaves himself 170 but Van Gerwen is ahead again in the leg. After nine darts, he's back at the board, MVG and after a first missed dart at double, he follows up with a leg-winning throw. Oooh, Van Gerwen with a sniff of a break as he leaves a ton and Littler behind on 124. Comfortable hold of throw for Michael van Gerwen, who wins the opening leg at a canter there. Punishing stuff from Littler, starting with a 180 once again. But it almost feels like the single hit is just as easy as the double 10. Both go with ease and it's 5-1! MVG on 62 but only gets one dart at D16 and the pressure is on
