World champion Luke Littler leads the 2025 Premier League Darts lineup, with Stephen Bunting rejoining the elite eight-player tournament after a decade away. The Warrington teen is the defending champion, having defeated Luke Humphries last May in a final that featured a memorable nine-dart finish. Humphries, a former world champion, makes his second tournament appearance following a 2024 filled with success, including victories at the World Cup, World Matchplay, and Players Championship.
Bunting earns a wildcard selection after a recent surge in form, reaching the World Championship semi-finals before losing to Littler. Ranked fifth globally, Bunting is the highest-ranked player outside the automatic top four qualifiers. He last competed in the Premier League in 2015 and participated as a challenger player in 2020. Joining Bunting as wildcard selections are Gerwyn Price, Nathan Aspinall, and Chris Dobey. Rob Cross and Michael van Gerwen, seeking his eighth Premier League title, are the other automatic picks. Dave Chisnall, Peter Wright, and Michael Smith, who competed in the 2024 edition, miss out this time. PDC chief executive Matt Porter explained the selections to Sky Sports, emphasizing the importance of big-stage presence, popularity, and crowd engagement.
