The graffiti cleanup program began a week and a half ago after city officials realized there needed to be another approach to this prevalent issue.

As of May 8, 2024, Lynnwood has launched its first-ever graffiti abatement program to deal with an ongoing crime that can be costly in both time and money for property owners. Lynnwood has launched its first-ever graffiti abatement program to deal with an ongoing crime that can be costly in both time and money for property owners.

Lowe’s is a partner in the effort. Under the program, when a property is tagged, the owner first needs to file a police report so investigators can track the crimes. Then the owner has the option to go to the Lynnwood Lowe’s and pick up a graffiti cleanup kit or buy their own supplies at a different store.

Either way, the owner can then bring the receipt along with the case number to the police department and get reimbursed with a gift card for the cost of the paint and supplies. Lowe’s is making cleanup kits available for either $25 or $40, with the more expensive option including more paint to cover up more extensive tagging. The money for the gift cards comes through a grant from the federal government.
