Supporters of both Nottingham Forest and Notts County driving down to London face disruption with the M1 closed in both directions. Both Reds and Magpies fans are travelling in their numbers to the capital, with Forest facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in manager Steve Cooper's side's quest for Premier League survival, while the Magpies take on Chesterfield at Wembley in the National League play-off final.

But for those travelling by car, the M1 has been shut in Buckinghamshire, between junction 14, near Milton Keynes, and junction 15, near Northampton, on the route to London for supporters. Pictures on social media have shown traffic queuing on the motorway, with supporters from Nottingham travelling southbound.

Some Notts fans said they had been "stationary for about a good 25 to 30 minutes". One fan said: "The tailbacks must be absolutely horrendous behind us." National Highways said the closure was due to a "police led incident"For drivers travelling southbound, National Highways advises the following:Turn right at the M1 J15 southbound interchange and continue on the M1 J15 overbridge to the northbound M1 J15 interchange.

At the roundabout take the first exit and continue northbound along the A509 to the M1 at J14, then re-join the M1 southbound. The disruption on the motorway comes after East Midlands Railway warned supporters not to travel by train to London due to strike action across the weekend.
