M1 delays after car fire closed motorway between junction 29a and junction 29

All lanes have been reopened after drivers faced delays of 45 minutes

All traffic on the motorway was held due to the incident. National Highways: East Midlands said: "Traffic is being held on the #M1 southbound between J29a and J29 near #Chesterfield # Mansfield following a car fire. @DerbyshireFRS on scene.

However, all lanes have since reopened. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were at the scene - and drivers were told to expect five miles of congestion.All lanes have reopened on the M1 southbound and traffic in the area is easing. It is expected that all traffic will return to normal by 1:15pm.Recovery is complete and all lanes are now open on the M1. There are now delays of less than 10 minutes for drivers.Traffic is easing on the M1 following an earlier incident.
