The slow traffic is nearly all the way up to Junction 33 as motorists merge in to get by the roadworks.National Highways North West said: “There are currently delays of up to 45 minutes above usual journey times on the M6 northbound between J32 and J33 near Preston on approach to planned roadworks.

“One lane is currently closed. Please plan ahead of your journey if travelling through the area this afternoon”.Bridge repair works began on Sunday 3 September at the Stewart’s Wood bridge between J32 and J33 and the work is expected to be ongoing until the end of October on the northbound carriageway only.

National Highways North West also said there are due to be six overnight closures of the motorway but no dates have been given at this stage.
