Emergency services are at the scene on the northbound carriageway
The M6 is shut this afternoon following a 'serious collision'. The motorway has been blocked off on the northbound carriageway near J27 with emergency crews at the scene.
Lancashire Police said in a statement: "The M6 is currently closed northbound between junction 27 and Junction 28 because of a serious collision. National Highways North West said the southbound carriageway has reopened but that the northbound carriageway will remain closed between J27 and J28 for investigaitons.Police have issued a full statement on the M6 collision this afternoon.
