Drivers can expect extra delays due to planned roadworks and temporary speed reductions
Several of the busiest roads and motorways in and around the county are set to experience some disruption due to roadworks and temporary speed reductions. Motorists are advised to check ahead and plan alternative routes if their planned journeys are sufficiently affected.
From October 10, for six weeks, the M6 southbound will have permanent daytime lane closures, with speed restrictions, with two narrow lanes remaining open during the day. National Highways estimates this measure will come to an end on Friday, November 18. M66 and A56 Edenfield roundabout to Bent Gate junction Work has started to repair both carriageways of the A56, from its start point at Edenfield roundabout to the A56/A680/B6527 junction close to Rawtenstall. The work involves resurfacing 15km of carriageway, replacing road markings, road studs, traffic count loops and bridge joints.
M6: Shevington Interchange to Leyland Interchange Resurfacing work on the M6 between junction 27 and junction 28 is set to begin this week.
