Aiden Gaitens dropped the weapon after a chase on the ninth floor of a Motherwell tower block.
The 19-year-old appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted carrying an offensive weapon in Barons Tower on August 11.
Cops were called to a disturbance about 8.30pm. At the time of the incident Gaitens was on early release from a 23-month sentence, having admitted a string of charges.
