Macron dijo que podría realizarse otro referendo con respecto a un nuevo acuerdo político para el archipiélago con el que, espera, los líderes locales puedan estar de acuerdo en las próximas semanas y meses, después de que se desmantelen las barricadas de los manifestantes, lo que permitirá levantar el estado de emergencia y el retorno de la paz.
