RUNWAY 22 of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) was closed for more than two hours after a Cessna 208 (C208) plane, which was returning, got disabled on the runway, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said on Wednesday.
CAAP said that its operation center received an advisory about a C208 plane operated by the Philippine Air Force that got stuck on runway 22 after landing at 2:14 a.m.The aviation regulator mentioned that PAF's TGR322 took off at 2:08 a.m. bound for Samar but the plane made a turn and requested clearance from Mactan-Cebu tower for landing.
However, upon touchdown, the plane reportedly bounced on the runway and came to a stop, unable to move.CAAP Spokesman Eric Apolonio said the Mactan runway was cleared of the disabled aircraft at 4:45 a.m., where runway operations were opened at 5:10 a.m.A technical problem reportedly caused the C208's return to the Mactan runway but neither confirmed nor denied whether the military aircraft had a mechanical or engine problem.
