With Christmas round the corner, the last Friday before the big day is usually seen as an excuse for many to get out on the town and let their hair down. The traditional blowout - whether it be an office party or a night out with friends - has earned the evening the nickname Mad Friday, or Black Eye Friday depending on who you ask.made the trip into the city centre expecting to find it teeming with people out celebrating.
Even hugely popular venues which normally would see people queuing down the street appeared relatively quiet. The kinds of queues you would expect to see on a Friday simply weren't there.
