Maddie suspect managed to flee to Portugal, Italy and Germany despite criminal past
THE Madeleine McCann prime suspect was discounted by Portuguese police just months after she disappeared despite having a sick criminal past, it is claimed.
It comes as Portuguese police face serious questions after their German and British counterparts found the suspect was not put on a shortlist of 600 suspects.The suspect's extensive and disturbing rap sheet includes sex attacks on kids, child pornography, sexual coercion, theft and breaking and entering, reports Bild.
He left Portugal again in 2007 and is thought to have spent the next few years between there and Germany. The following year Christian B was imprisoned for causing bodily harm — and in August 2018 he was jailed again for drug offences.But German authorities requested his arrest in Milan on a European Arrest Warrant in September 2018 over the Algarve rape of a 72-year-old US tourist.A month earlier, he was convicted of supplying marijuana in the German North Sea resort of Sylt and jailed for 21 months.
The Braunschweig court convicted him of rape after ruling it was highly unlikely a hair could have been on the victim’s bed sheet unless he had been there.German police revealed yesterday they are investigating the convicted rapist "on suspicion of murder" and say they believe Madeleine is dead.
