A rising star⭐

Three months ago Mae Stephens was your typical 19-year-old, living in Kettering, working at Asda and spending every day "trying to figure out the next step forward." But a single 15-second TikTok video sent her into instant stardom and landed her a record deal with one of the biggest names in music.

Mae, who counts Freddie Mercury and Sigrid among her musical influences, was 12 when she realised she wanted to become a musician. She said her parents "were trying to figure out what me and my brother were good at from a young age." Mae was also "horrifically bullied" for her YouTube content and her music. But she said it "made me so much more mentally strong than I was before."

"My dad had spammed me telling me to check my TikTok. The views were insane, every couple of refreshes I was getting around 500 more views." Mae added her sudden success "really blew me out." The TikTok video currently has 11.6 million views. Mae said the song is about "finding that boss energy" for "the people that need a sign. For people in those situations to just remember who they are, where they came from and their self-worth."
