Lovely little trip out
Christmas-time is all about wonder, imagination and a huge sprinkle of magic. And Thornton Hall Country Park, near Barndoldswick on the Pendle-Yorkshire border, has been over-run by cheeky elves to bring a Christmas Elfish Adventure for families in the countdown to December 25.
The park has been transformed into a enchanted winter wonderland and families can grab their magic passports and journey along Candy Cane Lane to meet a number of festive characters including Mrs Claus, Toymaker Cornelius Block, the Nutcracker Soldier and Sugarplum Fairy and of course Father Christmas himself in his wooden lodge.
Families will be guided through the wintry fairy-tale world by their own personal elf, which will take them on the Deer Express train, but they'll have to be alert, as naughty elves Spik and Span will be around to cause havoc. Mum Keira Reid visited the attraction with her family and said the experience is "not just for kids"."“It wasn’t just the kids that got swept off their feet with the festive magic, we did too," Keira said.
The family-run park, which is open all year round, also has an animal farm, so visitors can also meet the animals, including llamas, cows, horses and chickens while you can relax in the onsite diner with a festive menu or young explorerers can let of steam in the soft play areas. You can book your timeslot for the Christmas Adventure here, with entry to the farm and soft play included in the entry price. Allow two hours.
The Thornton Hall Christmas Adventure was born in 2014 and scooped the 'Best Small Event’ award at the Visit Lancashire Tourism Awards in 2018, the event has again made the finals for the 2022 awards .
