Consultation on Syndenham Bypass plan 'stopping order' was launched this week
The Department of Infrastructure is looking to close off a turning lane in the middle of the Sydenham Bypass in an effort to improve road safety.
The right turn pocket allows traffic to cross the northbound carriageway and was originally used to provide access to the original entrance to Belfast City Airport.Read more: Stormont department to spend additional £1million to fix NI’s ‘pothole problem’ A Department for Infrastructure spokesperson said: “The Stopping up on the Sydenham Bypass is for a right turn pocket, which allows southbound traffic on the bypass to turn across the northbound carriageway. This right turn pocket provided access to the original entrance to Belfast City Airport.
