The retailer will be closing completely on Easter Sunday

Easter comes not only with chocolate treats and traditions but also changes to the working week. One major discount supermarket has announced changes over the holiday that will impact shoppers across Nottinghamshire and the city.

High street retailer Lidl says that is is expecting a rise in customers over the bank holiday weekend - almost one million new shoppers headed for stores over Easter last year, it says - however, the firm has also announced that it will be closing completely on Easter Sunday. The supermarket has stores across the city and county so if you are planning a shopping trip you'll need to take note of the altered opening times.

Lidl confirmed to Nottinghamshire Live that stores across England and Wales will be open as normal until 10pm on Good Friday and Saturday. Stores will be closed on Easter Sunday, opening again between 8am-8pm on the bank holiday Monday. Some store opening times may vary and customers are advised to check the store finder on Lidl’s website, for details on their local shop.

Sunday trading laws stipulate that shops in England and Wales larger than 280 square metres must close on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day. Under the Government rules, shops exempt from the Sunday trading restrictions for large shops include for following:
