More than 400 new homes could finally be built on the long-vacant site on the edge of the city centre

Proposals for hundreds of new apartments on a long-term vacant site on the outskirts of Liverpool city centre will be decided at a crunch meeting.

An amended application by J.Doyle will now be considered by the authority’s committee almost 20 years after a first bid was made by previous developers.READ MORE:Rector of Liverpool cites 'institutional homophobia' in dramatic resignation statement The plans were for close to 400 apartments but were withdrawn after a disagreement as to whether it met the city’s local plan.

The site itself is 0.8 hectares of current vacant land and enclosed by fencing. According to the planning application submitted, each block would provide a ground floor unit for a flexible range of uses including retail, medical/health services, gym and local community hub.
