Two new buildings will be built at the bottom of the Lisburn Road

The Planning Committee at Belfast City Council this week approved an application for Queen’s University Belfast’s new iREACH Health innovation centre at the bottom of the Lisburn Road.

“It will develop and test medicines, technologies and therapies to deliver better health and wellbeing outcomes to people in Northern Ireland and beyond.” “The setting of the adjacent Grade B1 Listed terrace would be safeguarded. On balance, taking account of the considerable benefits of the proposal, the loss of some existing trees is acceptable.”

The report states the project will create 964 permanent jobs, direct, indirect and induced, a £60.3 million additional annual GDP, and a £761.4 million economic net present value over the lifetime of the project.
